What is an Investment Proposal?
An investment proposal is a personalized presentation created for a prospective client that outlines your firm’s approach, proposed investment strategy, expected outcomes, and fee structure. It is the primary sales document in wealth management — the equivalent of a pitch book in investment banking. The best proposals demonstrate that you listened during the discovery meeting, understand the prospect’s unique situation, and have a clear plan to help them achieve their goals.
Prospects are often evaluating 2-3 advisors simultaneously. The proposal that wins is usually not the one with the flashiest charts or lowest fees, but the one that most clearly articulates how the advisor will solve the prospect’s specific problems.
